A 49-year old man died early today at the Lakeside hospital, about 10 hours after he had been injured in a head-on collision of his motor car and another in front of 5211 East Twenty-sixth street. The victum, John Basso, 2441 Lister avenue, suffered no visible external injuries. His death was not being listed as a traffic fatality, pending the result of an autopsy later today. The other driver, John H. Ogden, 56, of 5611 East Twenty- terrace, was not injured. Police said the westbound Basso vehicle and the Ogden car, headed east, collided in the center of Twenty-sixth street. Officers said the Basso car was shoved backward 102 feet, striking a parked car and a tree. Police cited both drivers on careless driving charges. Basso was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. He was employed at the Fisher Body plant. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Newton-Davis post of the Veterans 0f Foreign Wars.He leaves his mother, Mrs. Julia Basso and a brother, Richard Basso, both of the home, and another brother, Andrew Basso, of 3915 Highland.Services will be a 11 o'clock Saturday at the Muehlebach chapel, where friends may call after 4 o'clock Friday; burial in Mount Olivet cemetery.
