Katherine (Orr) Jackson was the daughter of James Paul Orr and Jessie Mae Cochran. After her father's death in 1922, she and five siblings spent a number of years in the Odd Fellows Home in Liberty, MO. Kat came back to Mount Vernon when she was 7 or 8, so she spent much of her early life there.

Kat married Curtis Jackson on 25 Nov 1936 in Carthage, Missouri. They had three sons, Miles David, Curtis Wayne (CW), and Stephen Lee Jackson. Curt was in the Navy in World War II, and afterwards he and Kat lived in California for many years. After Curt retired as a machinist they moved back to Mount Vernon, MO.

Kat taught herself to play the piano and often played at her church and local functions. Katherine and Curt were active in the Mount Vernon senior center, and reaped the benefit of all their service to their fellow church members, as the Mount Vernon Pastor and his wife helped them both after surgeries.

For many years, Kat edited the Mount Vernon High School alumni newsletter. After Curt's death, she moved to Arkansas and lived with her son Curtis and his wife, then moved into a care facility. In her early years there she continued to play the piano for other residents.
