Edward J. Casper, 66, 31 East Grand Street, Chilton, died Monday, September 1, 1986 at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton.
He was born November 5, 1919, in Chilton, a son of Nell Schoenberger Casper and the late Max Casper.
Mr. Casper served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II in Europe.
On September 13, 1947, he married Gwen Hanson at Chetek.
He owned and operated the Meter Gas Company, New Holstein, for many years, and was owner of the Central House, Chilton.

Mr. Casper was a charter member of the Chilton Rotary Club, was a founder of the Calumet County Civic Association, honorary lifetime member of the Wisconsin L.P. Gas Association, and was a member of the Ancient Gasser Association.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Chilton; three sons, Edward of Scottsdale, Arizona, John of Madison, and David, a former all-pro tight end in the National Football League who starred for the then-Oakland Raiders, now of Waconia, Minnesota; two granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Nitzke of Green Bay, and Mrs. Dean (Alice) Connors of Chilton; and four brothers, Robert and Jerome, both of Green Bay, Lawrence of Sheboygan Falls, and Mark of Portage.
He was preceded in death by a brother.

A funeral Mass will be at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Chilton. The Rev. David Christel will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
