PIONEER WOMAN DIED AT ALBANY

MRS. BAGGENSTOSS A WELL KNOWN STEARNS COUNTY LADY DIED LAST NIGHT

Mrs. Jacob Baggenstoss, Sr., one of the pioneer women of Stearns county died last night at 11 o'clock at her home near Albany. Deceased was well advanced in years and had been a sufferer for some time from cancer. The family is numbered among the early residents of Stearns county coming here from their native country, Switzerland. They settled four and half miles southwest of Albany, where they have since then made their home. The deceased is survived by her husband and the following sons and daughters: Fred Baggenstoss, who is a well known farmer in the township of Albany; J. R. Baggenstoss engaged in the general merchandise business at Richardson, N.D.; Mrs. Fred Dirkes, Richardson, N.D.; Mrs. Charles Christen, Mrs. Foss, Miss Martha, Gottlieb, Alexander and William, all of Albany.

Tombstones give place of birth as Thun, Bern, Switzerland. Rosine "Rosa" Hodel married Jacob Baggenstoss in Switzerland. They had at least one son born in Switzerland who came to America with them. Her funeral was held on November 15, 1909.
