Clara Belle Miller, 83, of Chicora, Butler County, PA, died at 3:30 AM, on Sunday, July 31, 2005, after a short stay at Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, PA.
She was born Sunday, August 21, 1921 in Falls Creek, Jefferson County, PA, the daughter of the late Charles Ernest Smith and the late Ruth (Williams) Smith.
Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church and very active in these church groups, the Friendly Bible Class, the 3 T's, the Fellowship Committee, the Helping Hands and the Deborah Circle. She had delivered Meals on Wheels with her husband. She was active in the Butler County Extension programs and 4 H Clubs. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, flowers, baking, reading, square dancing and gardening. She had retired from Friedman's Market as a baker after 30 years of service. She had also worked at BF Goodrich in Dubois and Isaly's in Butler.
Surviving are her husband, Alex Frederick Miller whom she married February 26, 1938; three daughters and their husbands, Janet and David McClain of Clarks Summit, PA, Nancy and Donald Mackey of Butler and Carol and David Landis of Butler; seven grandchildren, Gregory Miller, Alex William Miller Neidich, Sharon Martin, Mark McClain, Lori George, Melissa Ola and Christopher Landis; 16 great grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Raymond John Smith and Chico (Noji) Smith of Poway, CA; four sisters, Jean Louise (Smith) Taube, wife of Charles Lawrence Taube of Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, Mary Martha (Smith) Bussard, wife of Harvey Gleason Bussard of Reynoldsville, Ila Arlene (Smith) Perrin, wife of Glenn Ray Perrin, of Johnstown and Lena Ruth (Smith) Cooper, wife of Elmer William Cooper of Falls Creek, PA.
Her paternal grandparents, John Atwell Smith and Mary Jane (McClure) Smith, her parents, Charles Ernest Smith and Ruth (Williams) Smith, her son, Harry David Miller (1938-1997), three brothers, Melvin LeRoy Smith,Sr., Jesse Elwood Smith, Samuel J. Smith and two sisters, Margaret Gwendolyn (Smith) Miller, wife of Dale Clinton Miller, and Ethlyn Nancy (Smith) Wayland, wife of Robert A. Wayland, and nephew, Melvin LeRoy Smith, Jr., predeceased her.
Her paternal great grandparents were James S. Smith, Mary Ann (Atwell) Smith, Mary (Hutchinson) McClure and John McClure.

Friends were received from 7 to 9 on Tuesday, August 2, 2005, and
from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at the Young Funeral Home, Ltd., Butler, PA. Services were held at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 11 AM with retired Pastor Larry Camberg of Ford City officiating.
Interment in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler, Butler County, PA.
