Louisa Payne was born in Wisconsin in 1861. She married Alexander McLeod and they lived their married lives in Redwood County, Minnesota. In the 1885 Minnesota State Census, Alex and Louisa by then had two children, Euphrina (born in 1883) and Norman John McLeod (1885). Louisa and Alex would become parents of seven more children in the ensuing years. Sadly Louisa died in 1906 sometime after giving birth to twin girls Grace and Louisa. Her husband Alex is listed in the 1910 census (in Redwood County, MN) as widowed with the following children still at home: Agnes (19); Alex (17); Lizzie (14); Jessie (11); Ella (8); and the twins Grace and Louisa (4 years of age). Louisa became a mother at the age of 22 and had her last two daughters at the age of 44.
