Ada was born in Courtland, Cochise, Arizona, the sixth of eight children to Francis Eugene Laymon and Ida May Ford Laymon. After earning her high school diploma in Douglas, Arizona she worked in the local telephone office.
As a young woman in search of a better life, she moved to San Diego, California. She found work both as a nanny and a waitress. In 1941, she met Everett H. Morris while working at Glenn's as a waitress. After a short courtship, they married in Yuma, Arizona.
They enjoyed more than 53 years of marriage. Ada and Everett raised their family of four children in San Diego and enjoyed their grandchildren. Her first priority was her family, as both a housewife and mother. She did work as a saleswoman at the Cornet 5 and dime store on a part-time basis. Ada was a member of the East San Diego Presbyterian Church for many years.
At the time of her death, she left four grown children, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.
