Carson A. ''Kit'' Reopell, Sr., 72, of Euclid Lane, Bolton, husband of Katherine H. (Boyd) Reopell, died Saturday, (Jan. 9, 1999) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Ware, MA., July 12, 1926, he moved to Bolton in 1936, resided in Manchester during the 1950's, attending South United Methodist Church, and returned to Bolton in 1960. Prior to retiring, he had been employed by the former Manchester Sand & Gravel Co. and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local478.Carson was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific on board the USS Custer (APA 40) as an Assult Boat Coxswain. He received numerous medals, citations, and letters of commendations. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and a daughter, Carson A. Reopell, Jr. of Ware, MA.; David E. Reopell of Windsor; Trent G. Reopell of Bolton; and Susanne M. Reopell of Manchester; a sister, Jane Lawson of Bolton; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Reopell) Szall, Andrew, Jamie, Jared, Anthony, and Emily Reopell; and three great grandchildren. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Friday, Jan. 15, 1 p.m., in the Bolton Center Cemetery, Hebron Road, Bolton. Friends may call at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a service to be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, 06492 or a charity of the donor's choice.
