Julianne A. Galipeau 1926 - 2012 BENNINGTON Julianne A. Galipeau, 85, a former resident of Shaftsbury and more recently of Bennington, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Gary Martin, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bennington on Nov. 9, 1926, daughter of the late Carl and Alice (Grant) Blodgett. Julianne received her education in Bennington. Julianne loved to spend time at Lake Champlain and Lake Lauderdale with her husband, children and extended family. She loved boating and traveling. She enjoyed spending several winters in Honolulu, Hawaii. While living in Honolulu, Julianne and Bernie met Duke and June DeCosta and they have remained good friends. After the death of her beloved husband, Julianne resided with her daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Gary Martin. They lived in Bennington and wintered in Zellwood, Fla. She loved to collect Precious Moments and had an extensive collection of over 400 teddy bears. Survivors include her children, Charlene Martin and her husband, Gary of Bennington, Bernie Galipeau of Shoreham, Kevin Galipeau of North Bennington, Darlene Galipeau of Bennington, Julianne Hoffman and her husband, Martin, of Bennington; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sweet grandson, Martin A. Hoffman, two brothers, Robert and William Blodgett and a sister, Jean Chapman. She also leaves her beloved grandson, Bradley Joseph Babson whom she has not seen since May of 1995. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington on Tuesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. The burial will take place in the family lot in Saint John's Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 8:30 until 9:15 a.m. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Julianne A. Galipeau may be made to St. Labre Indian School through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
