Born May 20, 1914, in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of George Hampton Bradley Sr. and Annie Belle (Cannon) Bradley. Beth was the oldest of 7 children. She quit school to get a job at the age of 15 when her father died suddenly during the Great Depression. She helped her mother raise her siblings by becoming the breadwinner of the family. Beth was our rock. She had such a wonderful sense of humor and wit, and was always willing to listen and offer advice if you asked her.
She retired from Cherokee Textiles after over 30 years as the executive bookkeeper. She was the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg.
Her niece Libby Sawyer always made sure she had the best of care and checked on her daily the three years she was in the nursing home.
Surviving are her sister, Emily B. Reid of Spartanburg; and several nieces and nephews, all of which were very special to her.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Parrish Bradley (1922-1967); and brothers, George Hampton Bradley, Jr. (1919-1969), William Thomas Bradley (1917-1998), Daniel McFarland Bradley (1929-1959), and David DeWitt "Demp" Bradley (1929-2010).
A graveside service was conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Lynda F. Moore. The family received friends at the graveside following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or Hospice Care of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
