Chief Sapulpa was full blood lower creek indian of the Kasihta tribe in Osochee town. The City of Sapulpa in Oklahoma was named after him. Chief Sapulpa's wife NaKitty— had three children- James, Sarah and Hanna. Sapulpa married Cho-pok-sa, a sister of his first wife and had seven children— Yarna, Moses, Samuel, William, Rhoda, Nicey and Becca. Chief Sapulpa is buried in the Sapulpa Family Cemetery on South Division St. it is owned and maintained by Nancy Green DAR Chapter.

Sapulpa was in the Creek Regiment of the Confederate Army. He served for three years and his rank was first lieutenant. He was wounded in the battle of Elk Creek, Checotah, Oklahoma. In 1868 Sapulpa was elected by his town as a member of the House of Kings, he held that position until his death. Sapulpa was an honorary Chief. Chief Sapulpa was the area's first permanent settler. In about 1850, he established a trading post near Polecat about one mile southeast of present day downtown Sapulpa. Chief Sapulpa was of the Coon Clan. He died in the Creek Nation, Indian Territory, which became Creek County, OK.
