PEORIA - Margaret Sage Logan died peacefully at age 96 (6 weeks from her 97th birthday) on May 4, 2020 due to heart complications in Peoria, Illinois.
Margaret was born on June 14, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, to George and Susan Sage. The only girl with six brothers, she was preceded in death by all but 91 year old brother David. Growing up on a farm in Adrian, Mo. during the Depression created a tight knit family. Once her brothers put a frog in her bed and all got a whoopin' from age 4 to 16 because they wouldn't squeal on each other, yet the oldest, Larry, purchased her first store bought dress. They were a laughing, loving family.
Margaret gave her life to Jesus on December 14, 1934 at Fairview Baptist Church, Butler, Missouri during a revival under the preaching of evangelist Elmer Josephson. She was baptized on March 10, 1935 in the Baptist Church at Adrian Missouri by Rev. Russell Kirchner.
After attending Ballard High School, Margaret went to Southwest Baptist College graduating in 1943 where she met Gordon Logan, a pastoral student, and the love of her life. She went to St. Louis, Missouri to Missouri Baptist Hospital to pursue a nursing degree following in her mother's footsteps. She then completed Nurses' training at Missouri Baptist Hospital, receiving her R.N. license. She also was a cadet nurse during WWII. Gordon and Margaret married in 1944. Margaret received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bradley University in 1974. Wherever Gordon was to called to pastor, Margaret would find a job at the local hospital. She worked at Missouri Baptist (now called Research Hospital) and at Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois she was charge nurse and awesome pastor's wife at Morton Baptist Church. Following Gordon to his pastoral calling in Rockford, Illinois, Margaret became a nursing and hospital director in the Resource Department implementing sharp safes and other innovations, finally retiring at age 68, but keeping up her license till age 93.
Margaret was always helping people whether it was starting home IV's, modernizing hospital safety, giving rides to church, playing piano and teaching Sunday School, typing calendar and agendas as church secretary or teaching VBS at age 90. Her passion was praying for others to know Jesus and be saved. She was also awarded the Illinois Women's Missionary Union (WMU) Legacy Award in 2014. She loved mission work.

She is survived by her daughter in Morton, Illinois, Susan Martin, son-in-law Bill Martin, and granddaughters Brooke Martin, Laura Season and husband Jason. Also survived by daughter in Barneston, Nebraska, Cindy Mayhew, son-in-law Greg Mayhew, granddaughters Ginger and Barbara Mayhew. Finally survived by daughter in Challis, Idaho, Barb (Campbell) Thomas, son-in-law Jim Thomas, grandson Roy Campbell with fiancée Lisa High-Allord, granddaughter Amanda Revard with husband Shawn, and great grandkids Laura and Lukas Revard.
Margaret will be interred next to husband Gordon in the family plot at West Point cemetery in Missouri, and a Celebration of Life ceremony will take place sometime this summer. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North American Mission Board.
