Obituary- “Gone to Rest” Reuben J Finton died at his home a few miles southeast of rockport of general debility. June 3 1904, aged 79 years and 13 days. Mr. Finton was born in Ohio in 1825 ,and Married Emeline Kelsey of the same state February 4, 1864. In 1877 he came to Atchison county where he has since resided. He became a christian in early life and connected himself with the Free Will Baptist in Which communion he died. His aged wife and 4 children survive him. 3 of the latter 2 sons and 1 daughter being at his bedside at the time of his death. One son in nebraska not being able to be present. His funeral sermon was preached last sunday by Elder T. H. Graves At the regular Baptist , and his remains will be interred at bush cemetery. Mr; Finton was a good citizen, a devout father and husband, an obliging neighbor and a consistent christian. To have lived to a good old age he was grateful, and met death with humble courage and full insurance of faith that for him to die was gain.
