Rev. Luther Turner, Jr., 75, of Montpelier, Ky., passed away Sun. 5 Feb 1984 at 5:55 pm at the Community Hospital, Glasgow, Ky. He was the son of the late Luther V. and Carrie Dell Collins Turner. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Turner, Montpelier, Ky.; 2 sons, Leon Turner, Columbia; and Joseph Turner, Bloomingdale, Michigan; 2 daughters, Mrs. Regina Nicholson, Seymour, Ind; and Mrs. Louise Thompson, Greensburg; 1 brother, Rollin Turner, Montpelier: 3 sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Jane Reece, Montpelier; Mrs. Pauline Bloyd, Cundiff; and Mrs. Mary Dudley, Granite City, Ill; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Turner was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister for 42 years, having pastored churches in Adair, Green, Russell, Taylor, Metcalfe, Cumberland, Hart and Ohio Counties. He was presently the pastor of the Good Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Taylor Co. at the time of his death. He was also a farmer. Funeral services were held Wed. 8 Feb 1984 at 2:00 pm at Stotts, Phelps, McQueary Funeral Home, with Rev. Shiley Beard and Rev. Fredie Norris officiating. Burial was in the Haven Hill Cem. Pallbearers were Donnie Turner, Larry Rooks, J.W. Bennett, Tim Larimore, Bill Bone and Robert Nicholson.
