James Trusler was born November 7, 1755 in Amherst Co., Virginia. He married Susannah Wilson in 1776 in Augusta Co., VA. He moved from Amherst County to Washington County about 1785 to 1787 and then to Franklin Co., Indiana about 1811 where he died on September 5, 1844. His date of birth and death is documented in his Revolutionary War records and pension records as sumitted by his wife, Susannah Wilson Trusler.
NOTE: It appears that his tombstone was inscribed with the wrong date of death, not of his but that of his wife Susannah who died on March 6, 1852. She gave a statement when she applied for his Revolutionary War pension that "her husband died on the fifth day of September 1844".
It should also be noted that the Trusler name was also spelled as Truslow throughout this family lineage.
