Daughter of Charles W. Avery and Grace Adele Lane, wife of Leslie Howard MacRobbie, whom he married on July 8, 1913 in Brookhaven, New York, and mother of Frances Ann and Leslie Summer MacRobbie.

Obituary - Mrs. Irene Avery MacRobbie, 77, of 1 Cherry Lane, East Patchogue, died February 10 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Mrs. MacRobbie was well known throughout the area for her active participation for many years in the work of the Girl Scouts and the American Red Cross. She was born in East Patchogue, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Grace Lane Avery, and is a direct descendent of Humphrey Avery, one of the early settlers, who owned all the land between Blue Point and Robinson's Pond, East Patchogue. Mrs. MacRobbie was a graduate of Wellesley College. She was a member of the Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Sprigs and a member, historian and former trustee of the Patchogue Congregational Church. She was the widow of Leslie H. MacRobbie, a former mayor of Patchogue, and a well known nurseryman in this area, and was the sister of Brookhaven Civil Defense Director, Humphrey R. Avery. She is survived by a son, Leslie S. MacRobbie, of Bellport; a daughter, Mrs. Frances M. Waibler of Seattle, Wash., one brother, Humphrey R. Avery, of East Patchogue, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Patchogue Congregational Church, the Rev. Stuart W. Van Cott, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Patchogue. Funeral arrangements were made by the Ruland Funeral Home.
