David Joseph Magers of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away Thursday, July 12th at his home after a courageous battle with scleroderma. He was born on September 24, 1952 in Fostoria, Ohio to Richard E. and Martha "Jane" Magers. He grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan and is a 1970 graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central. He married the love of his life, Celeste Bell, in 1972. They shared 40 years of marriage together and had six children. David was employed with the Kellogg Company for 37 years. Throughout his life, family was David's key focus and greatest joy. David also loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, as well as rooting for Notre Dame each Saturday during the Fall. David is survived by his wife, Celeste Magers; his six children, Luke (Erica) Magers of DeWitt, MI, Jennifer (Ethan) York of Evanston, IL, Anna Magers Krontz of Battle Creek, Erika Magers of Haslett, MI, Joseph Magers of Portage, MI, and Sara Magers of Cleveland, OH; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Jacob, Reigan, Oliver, Evan, Alexander, and Elliot; two brothers, Timothy (Carol) Magers of Canton, MI and Christopher (Cheryl) Magers of Battle Creek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Donations may be made in his memory to the Scleroderma Foundation or the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At the request of the family, friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where they will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday; and Sunday 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.; and at 7:00 p.m. Sunday the Rosary will be recited and personal remembrances by Dave's family will be shared. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Catholic Church 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012. Interment will follow at Pennfield West Hicks Cemetery.
