She would have been born about 1810 in either Pennsylvania or Maryland. The 1880 census for her son, John Silias, states that his mother was born in Maryland. She died about 1878 in Marshall Co., IN. She was the daughter of Jacob Gushwa and Elizabeth Phillipi and she married Jacob Steele December 10, 1828 in Holmes Co., Ohio.
