PRAIRIE – Beatrice "Billie" West, 90, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born Feb. 9, 1922, to Isaac Oliver and Lady Margaret Page Box of Aberdeen. She was a graduate of Aberdeen High School, attended Wood Junior College and received her degree from Mississippi State University. She was the manager of the first Sears Store in Aberdeen, taught school for a few years and was a social worker with Mississippi Department of Human Resources. She was a member of Prairie United Methodist Church, where she served as the adult class Sunday school teacher and had been active in United Methodist Women.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with the Rev. Sue McGrew and the Rev. John Price officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, James Hilton West (Faith) of Prairie; three grandchildren, Holly Foreman (Chris) of Nesbit, Charles Isaac West (Laura) of Hernando and Denny Buttrey (Brent) of Little Rock, Ark.; seven great-grandchildren, Haley and Sophie West, Haston and Price Foreman, and Ava, Lily and Bella Buttrey; nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Joyce Brand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilton Murry West; one grandson, Loren West; and siblings, Eugene Box, Mary Lou Neely, Lily Kate Box, Page Box, June Futch and James H. Box.
