Funeral services for Earnest (Ernie) Edward Davis, 70, Mtn. Grove, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Revs. Edward Cline and John Moles officiating. Burial will be Ava Cemetery.

A resident of Mtn. Grove for 40 years, moving from Ava, Mr. Davis died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 1994 at Cox South Medical Center, Springfield, following a long illness.

Mr. Davis helped to organize and was president of Mtn. Grove Bank. He also owned and operated a tire shop.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Mtn. Grove. He was also a member of Southside Baptist Church, Mtn. Grove.

Born April 11, 1923, in Douglas County, he was the son of Elmer L. and Rosa m. Brown Davis. On April 6, 1946 he married at Mtn. Home, Ark. to Alice M. Souder, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Rita Davis Sax and Sarah Davis, both of Mtn. Grove; his mother, Rosa Davis; and two brothers, Herman Davis and Gene Davis, both of Ava.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil and two sisters, Fern and Christine.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8: p.m. Friday.
