Dec. 30, 1940 -June 17, 2008 ELKHART - Nancy Lee Aguilar, 67, of Elkhart, died at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday (June 1 7, 2008) in Elkhart General Hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Bremen to Perry and Goldie (House) Rix.
Ms. Aguilar is survived by her daughters, Maria (Marcus) Weesner and Carmen (Felipe) Torres, both of Elkhart, and Reverie Kepplin of Michigan; two sons, Ricky Stoeckinger of Mishawaka and Juan (April) Aguilar of Granger; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Matilda Sniper of Plymouth; and a brother, Jacob Pittman of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Stoeckinger. Ms. Aguilar was an Elkhart High School graduate and loved spending time with her family. She was active in Native American rights issues and genealogy. She retired from the accounting department at O. J. Shoemaker, South Bend. Friends may call one hour prior to Thursday's 2 p.m. funeral service at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin St., Elkhart. Cremation will take place. Elkhart Cremation Services, 2100 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
Note: Although she was raised by Perry and Goldie Rix, Nancy's birth parents were actually Austin Pittman and Emma Jane Arnette.
