Robert A. Barr is my maternal great-great grandfather. His cemetery stone has the wrong year of birth. Robert A. Barr had various ages on his Civil War pension record. The cemetery stone was awarded for his service in the Civil War. My great uncle Charles Hughes and I researched his genealogy. When we had to give dates for year of birth and death to have the cemetery stone created, I chose to use the earliest birth year estimate. This was done in the early 1970's. The later release of the 1900 US census shows his birth year as 1832. He was born in Dauphin county, PA. His parents are unknown and no siblings
known. Various census information is conflicting about places of birth of his parents. Most frequently his father is listed as born in Scotland and his mother born in PA.. Over 45 years of genealogical research does not reveal his parents. The research appears to eliminate any ties to Barr families in Clarion or Jefferson counties. The only link may be Christopher Barr, although the
records indicate Christopher Barr was born in Ireland. Challenge is prove his ancestry..
Robert Axeres Barr married Mary CATHERINE Lyle who is buried beside him. She has no cemetery stone. Mary Catherine Lyle is the daughter of Mary Getgen
and Samuel Lyle. After Samuel Lyle died Mary Getgen Lyle married Henry Heckendorn. Mary Heckendorn is interred beside Catherine Lyle Barr.
