Daughter of Philip Pendleton Nalle and Elizabeth Wallace Nalle;

Granddaughter of Gustavus "George" Brown Wallace and Frances Lerty Nalle Wallace and of Martin Nalle and Eleanor "Nelly" Madison Barbour Nalle;

Sister of Martin Nalle, "George" Gustavus Brown Wallace Nalle, Philip Pendleton Nalle, Mary Fenton Nalle, James Barbour Nalle and Robert Mason Nalle;

Wife of Rev. Charles Yancey Steptoe, whom she married on 9 October 1872;

Mother of Charles Yancey Steptoe, Jr. (wife, Mary Johnson Wallace Steptoe - who is the daughter of Alexander Wallace), Elizabeth Wallace Steptoe and Philip Pendleton Steptoe (wife, Mary Lou Wetherell Steptoe).

Fanny's husband died in 1877, leaving her with three young children to raise. Her Mother had died some years before, leaving her Father a widower.....Fanny and her Father, Philip, then lived together for many years while her children were growing up.

In 1911, Fanny placed a newspaper article to announce the upcoming marriages of her two sons; Charles to marry in Lynchburg and Philip to marry in West Virginia. Daughter Elizabeth did not marry and continued to live with Fanny.

In 1912, Charles and his wife Mary Wallace Steptoe were expecting their first child; tragically, Mary died of complications during childbirth, leaving Charles with a baby daughter to care for. Fanny helped her son with the baby and for a time Charles moved in with Fanny, in order to have their daughter, Mary Wallace Steptoe, raised close to her Grandmother.
In 1921, son Charles married again, to Jane Halsey; Charles and Jane had a daughter, Frances, (named in honor of Fanny Steptoe) born in 1922, and moved to Taylor, Orange County, Virginia, where Charles would purchase a Farm. A few years after Charles remarried, Fanny and her Granddaughter, Mary Wallace Steptoe, moved back to Lynchburg, Virginia.

Fanny died on January 13, 1933 in Lynchburg; she is buried beside her Husband Charles in the Steptoe Family Plot at Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg.
