GARRISON -- Dale E. Anderson, age 69, of Garrison, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.

Dale was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Brainerd, Minn., the son of Arvid and Bertha (Cain) Anderson. He grew up and attended schools in Brainerd, graduating from the Brainerd High School in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon his discharge he returned to Brainerd and worked for the Minnesota Highway Department from 1958-1974. Dale moved to the Aitkin area in 1968. He married Sally A. Seibert on Sept. 19, 1970, in Aitkin. They farmed in the Rossburg area and drove school bus for the Aitkin School system from 1974-1988. In 1988 they moved to the Garrison area and have lived there since. He went back to work for MnDOT in 1988 and retired in 1997. He was a member of the Aitkin Assembly of God Church where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Sally, of Garrison; five sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene Anderson and Misty Nelson of Sauk Center, Minn., Aaron and Kelly Anderson of Kimball, Minn., Scott and Stephanie Anderson of Ironton, Minn., Adam Anderson of Brainerd and Shane Anderson of Garrison; three daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Gordon Mickelson of Aitkin, Heather and Jared Rohde of Brainerd, and Dawn and Ben Davis of Brainerd; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Anderson of Baxter, Minn., Clinton Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn., Robert Anderson of Motley, and Arnold Anderson of Garrison; one sister, Judith Witta of Maple Grove, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. from the Aitkin Assembly of God Church with Rev. Roy Haines and Rev. Brian Kimbler officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Kimberly Township of Aitkin County, Minn. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
