Mr. Norbert B. Zipperer, age 80, of 3731 County Trunk Hwy H., Cato, died Saturday evening, Sept. 8, 2001, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. A Memorial Mass will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Rev. John Conrad will officiate, with burial of his cremated remains on Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the parish cemetery.
Norbert was born Feb. 11, 1921, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Meidl Zipperer. Norbert attended St. Michael grade school in Whitelaw. On Aug. 8, 1944, he was married to the former Bernadine C. Staudinger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. Norbert farmed and worked for Bahr Construction Co., selling the farm in 1962. He retired from the Manitowoc County Highway Dept. in 1980. Norbert was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Holy Name Society and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife Bernadine of Cato, three sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Mary Jane Zipperer of Cato, Ronald and Linda Zipperer of Manitowoc, David and Cheryl Zipperer of Whitelaw; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters-in-law: Art Zipperer of Clarks Mills and his special friend Grace Maertz, LeRoy and Donna Zipperer of Whitelaw, Jerome and Bonnie Zipperer of Manitowoc, Rose Zipperer of Loveland, Colo., Donna Zipperer of Manitowoc; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Margaret and Edmund Kohlman of Manitowoc, Arlene and John Kocourek of Reedsville, Jeanette and LeRoy Remiker of Two Rivers; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Christine Staudinger of Whitelaw.
Norbert was preceded in death by one granddaughter and two brothers, Ray and Clarence Zipperer; one sister, Loretta Franzen; one sister-in-law, Irene Zipperer and one brother-in-law, Helmar Franzer.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clarks Mills on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 6:30 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is serving the family.
