Services For Mrs. Pettus Are Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Warren Pettus will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the First Baptist church with the Rev. Leslie Welch, pastor, and the Rev. Claude F. O'Neall officiating. Burial will take place in the Masonic cemetery with Seydler Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pettus died in the Holmes Memorial Hospital at 8:10 p.m. Thursday.
Born in Gonzales on June 2, 2882, Mrs. Pettus was the daughter of Sam and Jean Johnston Cobb, natives of Texas and North Carolina respectively.
She had been a member of the First Baptist church since early childhood, and was married to William Thomas Pettus, Sr. The family lived on Route 2 for many years. Mr. Pettus preceded her in death on October 17, 1939.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Virginia) Brown of Belmont and Mrs. Donald (Georgia) Clark of Gonzales; four sons, Sam C. Pettus, Jr., and Percy Pettus, all of Gonzales; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren,
Also surviving her are three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Annie Laurie) Scheske and Mrs. Gertrude Hampton, both of Gonzales; and Mrs. Mildred Diebel of Houston.
She was preceded in death by another sister, Mrs. Frank Coons.
Her grandson will serve as pallbearers.
