On Mar. 3, 1807 of record at Hancock, NH, Letitia m. Capt. Martin Fuller, the eldest child of Dea. Thomas Fuller and Lydia Paige, b. of record June 6, 1780 at Hardwick, Mass. He d. Oct. 18, 1816 at Hardwick, VT per the Hardwick town record. However, although he has no extant gravestone the inscription on Letita's extant gravestone directly infers he once had a gravestone. They had four children who are summarized in their father's memorial.
What the attraction was between the Dea. James Duncan family of Hancock, NH and Dea. Thomas Fuller family of Hardwick, VT is of ancestral interest to the writer. Dea. James Duncan was of Scotch-Presbyterian ancestry whose Duncan grandparents arrived during the early days of the Scotch Presbyterian settlement of Londonderry, NH. On the other hand, the Dea. Thomas Fuller families of Hardwick, VT were long-standing New England Congregationalists.
In 1816 Letitia's younger sister Rebecca became the wife of her husband Martin's younger brother, the Hon. Timothy Paige Fuller. Letitia and Martin named their eldest son Thomas James Duncan Fuller for the son's paternal grandparents. Thomas J. D. Fuller would become a prominent attorney and have a son Thomas James Duncan Fuller, Jr., who became a prominent architect at Washington, DC. Thomas J D. Fuller, Jr. would have a son Thomas James Duncan Fuller, 3rd, who died in 1985 at Plymouth, Mass., the same place where his 7th gr.grandfather, 1620 Mayflower passenger Edward Fuller, died in 1621.
Letitia and Martin's dau. Lydia Jane Fuller was the 2nd wife of Rev. Levi Huntoon Stone of Cabot, VT, but she died within a year of marriage. Thereafter, Rev. Stone married Lydia Jane Fuller's 1st cousin Lydia Abigail Duncan, dau. of Letitia (Duncan) Fuller's younger brother Capt. Christy Duncan. Unfortunately, Lydia Abigail died within a few years of the marriage. Although Capt. Christy Duncan was not a lineal ancestor, well into the 1900s the name Christy was given either as a first or middle name of the male descendants of Letitia (Duncan) Fuller's younger son Hiram.
