JACOB A. BEEBE
Jacob A. Beebe, aged 56, died on Saturday at his home, 36 Cherry Avenue, West Sayville, after a long illness. Born in West Sayville, the son of the late John L. and Catherine Wessels Beebe, he had lived there all of his life.
For many years he was a bayman but recently had been custodian at the Suffolk County Firemen's Training Center at Yaphank. He was a member and a past chief of the West Sayville Fire Department, a commissioner of the West Sayville-Oakdale Fire District, a past president of the Suffolk Racing Team Association, sergeant-at-arms of the Suffolk Firemen's Association, a member of the Islip Town Fire Chief Council and a member of the Suffolk Firemen's Drill Association. He was also a member of the Community Ambulance Company and Suffolk County Republican Club.
Mr. Beebe leaves his wife, the former Miss Martena Van Wyen, one son, Jacob Beebe, two daughters, the Misses Annette and Esther Beebe, all of West Sayville, a brother, the Rev. John Beebe of Holland, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. George W. Steenland of West Sayville.
Firemen's services were held at Raynor's Chapel, Sayville, Monday evening and funeral services were at the Chapel Tuesday at two p.m. with the Rev. Fred Bultman, associate pastor of the West Sayville Christian Reformed Church officiating, followed by interment in Union Cemetery, Sayville.
