All the days of his life, Brother Van Aken was deeply religious. Every interest of the Kingdom received his support. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the local Methodist church for over forty years. Each Sabbath day found him in his place at the hour of worship.

Besides these the entire Belleville community regrets his departure for he was a good citizen and a true friend.
