She was married on February 26, 1859 in Daviess County, Indiana to Dr. William Harmon Hedrick.

Mrs. Hedrick's Death.

Mrs. Rena Hedrick, wife of Dr. Wm. Hedrick, of Alfordsville, who was injured in a runaway last Friday, died at 8 o'clock Sunday from the result of her injuries. She was buried Monday in Union church yard.

Mrs. Hedrick was forty-five years of age and a faithful member of the Christian Church. Her maiden name was Smith.

The accident occurred last Friday afternoon. She was being taken home by her son, Eli Hedrick, from his home near Alfordsville. He was driving a half-breed pony to a buggy, and the animal became frightened near Sugar creek and ran away.

Mrs. Hedrick was thrown out and her skull was crushed and her back terribly bruised. She was conscious but a few minutes after the accident.
She is the daughter of John Taylor Smith and Judith Ann Potts.
