ADAMS Joyce Adams, 81, Kokomo, lost her brief battle with cancer on July 5, 2012 and passed into the eternal arms of her Savior surrounded by her family. She was born on August 22, 1930 on a farm near Russiaville, the 11th child of the late Charles R. and Faye (Merrick) Orem. Joyce and JD moved several times, finally settling in Gahanna, Ohio. She worked at several hospitals during her career. She retired from nursing at the age of 76. She is survived by her children, Grace (Don) Laughner, Donna (Jim) Calabro, Jay Adams and Donald Adams; her grandchildren, Dustin (Katie) Laughner, James, Vincent and Katharine Calabro; her great-grandchildren, Issac and Madison; her brothers, Leon (Julia Ann) Orem and Merle Orem; and her sisters, Vivian Karr, Ruth Tucker, and Mary Juanita Sheffer; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband JD, one child Charles Wayne, brothers Dwight Orem, Joe Orem, Ralph Orem, Kenneth Orem, Donald Dale Orem. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 at STOUT & SON FUNERAL HOME, Russiaville Chapel, 200 East Main Street, with her nephew, Ted Orem officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo Humane Society, with envelopes available. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
