Cosmo Bailey Richardsone was a CSA veteran having served as a Second Lieutenant in the 1st Georgia Regular Artillery. It was rumored that the borrowing of his horse by Adjutant John J Symons caused the man's death after he was thrown and suffered several days.

After the war Cosmo graduated from Harvard Law School in 1866 and was an attorney in Savannah Ga. Later he moved to California, named in the 1880 census and voters registration (16-March 1888) in Los Angeles County. He was a stockholder in the Sunset Oil Company. After his death his sister Cornelia "Nina" Hardee brought him back to Savannah to be laid to rest in the Richardsone Family lot.

Cosmo's half-sister, Sarah Elizabeth Richardsone Gabbett, is the said designer of the CSA Cross of Honor and its Custodian for the many faithful years she was in the UDC.

Their father Dr.Cosmo P Richardsone was a well-respected and some say the best doctor in Savannah, Georgia. His first wife was Margaret Bailey (mother of Sarah); after her death from brain fever Dr Richardsone married her sister Elizabeth (mother of Cosmo and Nina). Elizabeth is buried in plot # 646.

Major James B Bailey (brother of Margaret and Elizabeth) named some of his children in honor of the Dr. Cosmo P. Richardsone family:
Cosmo O. Bailey (27027173)
Martha Richardsone Bailey (27027170)
Margaret Richardsone Bailey Campbell (27027177)
Cousin Cosmo O. Bailey named his first born son Cosmo Richardsone Bailey (27027175).
