Surviving are his wife, Henrietta; three daughters, Brenda Payne and Judy Cunningham, both of Fort Wayne and Sandra Tankersley of Auburn; three brothers, Verlyn, Glen and George, all of Decatur; three sisters, Levera Heyerley and Ilean Steffen, both of Bluffton, and Dorthy Van Horn of Decatur; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Norman and Terry Tankersley.
Services at 1 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road. Calling from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 47.
