The brother of Bluffton residents,Verlyn R. Geyer,81 of Decatur,died at 7:14 a.m. Friday,Sep,9,2008 at his residence following an extend illness.
Born in Bluffton,on Nov,2,1926 to Eli and Lydia (Steffen) Geyer,he married Helen I Michaud in Wilshire,Ohio on Dec.8,1946;she preceded him in death on Aug.24,2002.

Mr. Geyer worked at Zollner Corp. in Fort Wayne,retiring in 1993.He was an active and longtime member of the Decatur Churh of God.
Surviving relatives include one daughter Darlene K.(Rex) Johnson of Decatur;two sons,Edwin W. Geyer of Decatur and Roger A. Geyer of New Haven;three sisters,LaVera (Homer) Heyerly of Bluffton,Ilean (Leonard) Steffen of Bluffton, and Dorothy (Dave) Vanhorn of Decatur;two brothers,Glen Geyer and George Geyer both of Decatur;four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr.Geyer was also preceded in death by four brothers,Loyal W.,Donald W.,Earl W.,and Lester Geyer;and one sister Berthlean Reinhard.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the Decatur Church of God.Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and from one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial is at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, in Bluffton.
Preferred memorials are to the Decatur Church of God building fund.
