Terminating an extended illness of several months, death came at 7:40 o'clock Thursday evening, May 20, 1937, to Mrs. Marguerite Fuller McCowan, in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mrs. and Mrs. E. Gadd Snider, Poplar Lane Farm, New Salem road, where she had resided since her illness became serious last January.
Mrs. McCowan, member of one of Uniontown's most prominent and best known families, had been a lifelong resident of this community and was loved by a wide circle of friends.
Born June 11, 1896, Mrs. McCowan was the daughter of Mrs. Fannie Saul Fuller, who now resides with the Sniders at Poplar Lane, and the last Dr. John M. Fuller, and prior to her marriage spent her girlhood days in the old Fuller homestead, West Fayette street. She attended Uniontown public schools, graduating with the class of 1915 from the Uniontown senior high school. On May 29, 1918, she was married to Ira A. McCowan, who survives together with one son, Fuller, and a daughter, Barbara Ann.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Fannie Fuller, deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Fannie Fuller Phillips, Mrs. E. Gadd Snider, Uniontown; Mrs. Helen Fuller Barker of Philadelphia; John C. Fuller of Brookville; George and Smith Fuller, of Uniontown. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Theophilus Bowie and a brother, Harry Fuller.
Mrs. McCowan was a devoted member of St. Peter's Episcopal church, and the Daughters of the King. Prior to her illness she was associated as supervisor in the Uniontown office of the WPA Sewing project.
Funeral services will be announced later.
