Obituary—Edna M. Steinlage
Edna M. Steinlage, 79, Seneca, died August 23, 1998, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She had been a resident at Country View Estates since May 24, 1998.
She was born July 1, 1919, on a farm east of Kelly, the daughter of Herman J. and Anna M. Haverkamp Boeding. She attended St. Bede's School at Kelly. She did domestic work in the area until 1937 when she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she worked at Hallmark Cards in the packaging department for five and one-half years.
She married Aloysius "Aloy" Steinlage August 11, 1948 at St. Bede's Church in Kelly. He survives.
They lived and farmed southeast of Corning where they had livestock and operated a dairy from 1964 to 1981. They moved to Seneca in June 1986.
Mrs. Steinlage was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Chruch, St. Ann's Altar Society at the church, and the Merry Makers Card Club all at Seneca. She was a former member of St. Patrick's Church, a past president of the Altar Society at the church, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of the Arthur Mills Post all at Corning.
Other survivors include four sons, Robert "Bob" Steinlage, Cletus Steinlage, and Damian Steinlage all of Topeka, Paul Steinlage, Corning; three daughters, Elaine Kramer, Oneida, Linda Roggenkamp, Onaga, Melvina Ball, Eagle, Nebraska; four brothers, Francis Boeding, Raytown, Missouri, Fr. Damian Boeding, O.S.B., Joplin, Missouri, Wilbert Boeding, Goff, Lawrence Boeding, Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Rosalia Fangman and Leona Olberding both of Seneca; fifteen grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
The mass of Christian burial was at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Chruch at Corning. The burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given for St. Patrick's Chruch, the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital or the Diabetes Association and sent in care of the family.
