Grace Owen passed in the care of her Lord Oct 8. She was born in Lebanon on Jan. 10, 1881 to David and Margaret Dunham Diffenderffer. She Attended schools in Lebanon and after Graduation attended Wards Seminary in Nashville, Tenn.
She Joined First Congregational Church at the age of 13 and was its oldest living member. On April 16, 1902, she married William Henry Owen at the home of her mother.
William Owen founded the Magnetic Ice and Bottling Co. (now Coca Cola) which he operated until 1921. He also began the first motor car agency in Lebanon, Ford. He also was one of the founders of the First National Bank and was a director for many years. In 1920, William was Mayor of Lebanon. He preceded her in death in 1959.
From this marriage five children, one girl and four boys were born. Grace lived in St. Louis from 1921-1941 when she returned to Lebanon and lived out the rest of her life.
Besides the Congregation Church, she was a member of the Lebanon Chapter P.E.O., the Gold Star Mothers, and Shakespeare Club.
Preceeding her in death were her parents; her husband, two sons, William Henry III who was killed in action during WWII and David who died three years ago.
She is survivied by daughter, Mrs. Emily Stewart, West Sun City, AZ, two sons James W. Owen, Sr of Lebanon; Henry Owen of Denver, CO; grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends.
