Death of Reuben Couch
Reuben Couch of Chillicothe died at the home of his brother, W. A. Couch, two miles west of Linneus last Friday afternoon of kidney trouble. He had been in poor health for several years but continued at his work until a few weeks prior to his death. Two weeks ago he came to Linneus to be with his brother, Willis, and family.
He suffered a great deal of pain but bore his affliction with remarkable fortitude.
Reuben Couch was born January 18, 1866, at the old homestead where he passed away. He was a son of the late Callaway Couch and wife. He was educated in the Linneus public school and when a man engaged in the barber business in Linneus which he conducted for two years when he moved to Laclede and continued his vocation there for about ten years. Two years ago he sold out at Laclede and located in Chillicothe, where he lived until his death. Mr. Couch was a man of genial nature and well liked by all who knew him. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. E. O. Stockwell of Beverly, Ill., and one brother, Willis A. Couch of near Linneus.
The funeral was held at the residence of Willis Couch last Sunday, conducted by Rev. Bowles of the M.E. church South, and interment was made in the old cewmetery at Linneus beside the grave of his parents.
