Marjorie was born on July 2, 1918, in Eagle Valley Township, Todd County, to E. Paul and Alma (Croonquist) Johnson. She graduated high school from Clarissa and attended normal teacher's training in Long Prairie for two years. After her training, Marjorie taught country school in Bertha, Eagle Bend and Clarissa.
On June 11, 1939, Marjorie married J.D. Bain in a double wedding with her sister Elaine at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clarissa. She was a substitute teacher for many years and was a Title teacher for 28 years in Clarissa. During her time at Clarissa Public Schools, Marge was selected as Layperson of the Year in 1984.
Marjorie enjoyed going out to eat and playing cards with her friends. She taught many of her friends how to do Hardinger needlework. Marge also enjoyed spending time at Battle Lake and was an avid Twins fan. She especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marjorie was a lifetime member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and the Women's Group.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband J.D. in 1970, grandson Ryan Nelson, brother Wallace Johnson, and sister Elaine Aspengren.
She is survived by her children: Jack (Sandy) Bain of Clarissa, Bonnie (Rodney) Nelson of Battle Lake; sister Mildred Novotny of Alexandria; grandchildren, Julie (Dean) Fenoglio of Altamont, Illinois, Jason (Jennifer) Bain of Rice, Sara (Joel) Ylinen of Sauk Rapids; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jason Bain, Sara Ylinen, Zach Winter, Mark Johnson, Larry Novotny and Donald Aspengren.
Interment was held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Clarissa.
