Althe Addie Goforth Cofer Cost, widow of Walter C. Cost, died at 8 p.m. Monday, January 2, 1984, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home, Water Valley, Miss., Yalobusha County where she had been a resident for seven years. She was 87.

Born February 12, 1896 in Yalobusha County, Miss., Mrs. Cost was a daughter of the late Joe and Sallie Kendricks Goforth. She lived in this area all her life and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Yalobusha County, Miss., near Water Valley, Miss.

Services were held at 10 a.m. last Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Water Valley, Miss. with the Rev. Johnny Sanders and the Rev. Jimmy Furr officiating. Burial was in the Pittsboro Cemetery in Calhoun County, Miss.

She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Altha Lee Welford of Lucedale, Miss. and Mrs. Lorene Coker of Meridian, Miss.; a son Ellis (George Ellis) Cofer of Meridian, Miss.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Crews of Water Valley, Miss.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-hrandchildren.

Mrs. Cost was preceeded in death by her parents and a daughter Sallie Claudine Cofer Sanders.
