Samuel Kimble Frey was the only son of John and Ann Coddington Frey. He was born on 2 August 1821 on his grandfather, Samuel Coddington's farm located on Buffalo Creek, near Selbysport, Maryland. Samuel was a hotel keeper in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

"S. Kim Frey, after his retirement from the hotel business in which he had been engaged for many years, purchased 38 acres of land from Miss Harriet Skiles and other, August 1869, and built a comfortable frame residence and here spent the remainder of his days." (History of Uniontown; page 155). Deed was recorded November 22, 1869 in book vol. 21 Page 584 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Estate of Samuel Kimble Frey (1821-1880) died in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Owned land in Somerfield, Somerset County, Pennsylvania and Coddington Farms in Garrett County,Maryland.

On the 6th day of September 1880, a codicill to his will added another child, J. Russell Frey. This is transcribed into the Orphans Court Book #31, page 294.
