Aspermont, Tx. - Leola Mildred Elkins, 95, went to be with her Lord Saturday evening at a local care center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, July 3,2012 at First Baptist Church in Aspermont officiated by Rev. Mickey Waggoner with burial to follow in the Aspermont cemetery under the care and direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mildred was born in Red River County, Texas; she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Aspermont and worked as a beautician for many years. Mildred was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, niece, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, but above all of that she was a Christian. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Aspermont. If she was able to attend, she was in her pew, same one week after week for many, many years. After retirement if she wasn't at church or Dairy Queen you could probably find her at the Stonewall County Senior Citizens building for a meal gathering of some sort. Mildred was very social and loved attending local events such as the basketball and volleyball games at the Aspermont High School Gym or singings in Peacock or Old Glory, Texas. Prior to her retirement she would go on trips with the Senior Citizens to various places across the United States of America; upon each trip she would always bring gifts back for the family. Mildred was also a member of the Red Hats Society and would wear the ritualistic purple clothing and some form of red hat when attending any event with them. When not traveling or attending church or a ballgame she was tending her flowers and plants at home.
Survivors include her son Jimmy Fred Elkins and wife Ruthie of Aspermont; grandson Kevin Elkins and wife Connie of Stephenville; granddaughter Annette Trevino of Abilene; great grandchildren Ashton Trevino, Stormy Robins, Doyle Lipham; and sister-in law Dorothy Bolch of Andrews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband M.C. Elkins and one daughter Leola Faye Elkins.

Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
