He is the son of Antoine Joseph Angelette, Jr. and Celeste Marie Lafont. His siblings are Francois Ernest, Maximillien Alexandre, Augustine, Celestine, and Christopher Columbus. Emile is sometimes confused with his brother Maximilen Alexadre who was 5 years younger than Emile.

Prior to the great hurricane that killed so many people on Grand Isle, Emile and Marie had five children. They lost all of their children to the hurricane. Marie was found hanging by her hair in a tree. She was pregnant at the time with Antoinette. This is a story that has been told for a long time. The hurricane occurred in 1893. Emile and Marie were married in 1892. I can neither endorse nor refute this story.
