Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Crummy Funeral Home in Viola for Mrs. Mina Elmira Knox, 85, who died Monday morning in the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo.

The Rev. Robert Williams, pastor of the Viola Methodist Church officiated and burying was in the Carnahan Cemetery near Aledo.

Mrs. Knox was born Aug. 26, 1880 in Keithsburg, a daughter of David and Lydia Elzina Knox Brown. She was reared and received her education there.

She was married to Asa Freeman Knox, March 11, 1902 in Wapello, Iowa. They resided most of their married life in the Viola community. He died in 1939.

She was a member of the Viola Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Martyn Frazier, Sebring, Fla., Mrs. Everett Leibendorfer, Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. Marion Frakes, Viola, and Mrs. Gilbert Pease, New Boston; three sons, Clinton, Viola, Willis, rural Aledo, and Jack, East Moline; 32 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild; a brother Clint, Keithsburg, and a sister, Mrs. Stevie Robbins, Keithsburg.

Two sons, seven brothers, six sisters, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild preceded her in death.
