Mayes, Adolphus - age 77, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2010. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Minnie Mayes and six brothers and sisters.

Adolphus is survived by his loving and devoted wife, one son and his wife; three grandchildren as well as a sister and her husband, a brother and his wife and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is remembered for his love for God and family. Adolphus was president and co-owner of Breeding Insulation Company Knoxville, Inc.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the prayers and support of countless friends and loved ones during his difficult battle with illness. We extend a special thanks to Dr. Bruce Avery and his loving, caring staff.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church Ministry Center, 7916 Pedigo Road, Knoxville, TN 37938, or the National MS Society, 4219 Hillsboro Road, Suite 306, Nashville, TN 37215.

Funeral services will start promptly at 6:00 pm Saturday at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Jones, Dr. James Robertson and Rev. Mark McCoig officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm Sunday in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Sharon Baptist Church.
