Laurens - Jan 25 - Funeral services for Mrs Sallie Smith Richardson, 74, widow of Butler Richardson, were conducted at Mountville Tuesday afternoon. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the Presbyterian Church.
Mrs Richardson died Monday night in Asheville at the home of her daughter, Miss Louise Richardson, teacher in the public schools of that city. She was a native of Waterloo township and was a member of one of the Smith families prominently identified with western Laurens County life for a long span of years. Her married life was spent at Mountville. For several weeks, Mrs Richardson had been a patient at a Laurens hospital until last Saturday, when she was taken by her daughter to Asheville. She was in a convalescing stage, and friends and relatives were shocked to hear of her sudden death.
Mrs Richardson is survived by her daughter and a son, David Richardson of Mountville. She is also survived by a brother, James M Smith, Waterloo.
