Obituary - Ernest Payne, aged 71, of Bell Avenue, Blue Point, died Saturday at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he had lived in this vicinity for 30 years.
Mr. Payne was a member of the Blue Point Fire department and the Exempt Firemen's Association.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in C.W. Ruland and Sons Funeral chapel, Patchogue, with the Rev. Hanington Wilson of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Patchogue, officiating.
Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Patchogue.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah Hawkins Payne; one son, William, Blue Point; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Parmentier, Bayport; a brother, Stephen Payne, Philadelpha; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Lohman, Florida; and two grandchildren.
