My grandparents lived very near my home, where I lived with my parents and my sisters. Often, my sisters and I would walk to my grandparents' home to visit. After my grandfather died, my aunt and her family moved in with my grandmother. My sisters and I often played there with our cousin, the youngest daughter of Aunt Eula and Uncle Carl.
I would often find my grandmother reading her Bible or watching a television minister on TV. She was a Christian woman and enjoyed hearing the gospel message taught.
I remember attending her 90th birthday celebration at her home on September 12, 1971. Many family and friends attended. I am happy I could be there with my grandmother, my parents, my husband and our little daughter. My husband, who was serving in the USAF, left that day to fly to Thailand, where he served for a year.
My grandmother's funeral was held at Mims Mitchell Funeral Home in Magee, MS, with many family and friends in attendance.
Margaret and Joe had five children and fifteen granddaughters.
