Mary Thimmesch was born in Olm, Luxembourg. Her parents were George Thimmesch and Catharine Bercham. She came to the United States with her family when she was approximately 5 years of age. They lived in Reno County, Kansas and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph (Ost), Kansas. She married Michael Hermes and they farmed in Reno County, and then moved to Garden City, KS and then to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado where Michael died and is buried in Fairview Cemetery. After his death she moved to Loveland, Colorado with some of her family where she died and is buried. She was the mother of sixteen children.
