Funeral services for Frank W. Carder, 94, who passed away May 1 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital, were conducted Monday morning at the Methodist Church with the Rev. John Zemanek, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were John Horn, Clyde Porter, Harry Horstmann, Ivan Johnson, Neal Kimble and James Nielsen.
Frank Wolford Carder, the last of a family of 18 children, 12 of whom were half brothers and half sisters, was born Oct. 29, 1864 near Murray, Ia. He was united in marriage to Margaret Johnson at Murray on Jan. 17, 1893.
In 1903 they moved to a farm near Creighton, where they made their home until 1939. at that time they moved into town and made their home here the remainder of their lives. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 17, 1943 and on Oct. 26 of that year Mrs. Carder passed away.
Mr. Carder was a member of the local Methodist Church. In his younger years he was active in the work of the Odd Fellow Lodge, the Farmers Union and civic affairs of the community.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Nejedly of Creighton, Mrs. Clyde (Georgia) Fisher of Spencer and Mrs. Jess (Margaret) Farner of Alhambra, Calif.; two sons, Truman and Cecil of Creighton; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
One son, Paul, died in 1918.
